The weather’s hot, and the living is easy. Right now is a great time to sell your home in Savannah. There is nothing better than an open house on a nice day with lots of people out and about. Warm temperatures and long days offer a number of opportunities to take advantage of. Here are just a few ideas in our:
“Guide to Throwing an Open House in Savannah!”
Throw A Party!
Nobody can resist a backyard barbecue or block party! Summer days are long, summer nights are warm! Tell everyone the house is available by inviting your neighbors and opening the doors! Your neighbors may have friends who want to buy! Choosing a new neighbor will also make people more interested! This is a great way to spread the word about your home being for sale. Partying sends a relaxed vibe, making people feel at home. A party feels more relaxed than a traditional open house. In addition, depending on how tight-knit your neighborhood is, throwing a block party could give you one last hurrah with your neighbors, making it a great way to say goodbye. Host a BBQ and make everyone feel at home!
Declutter
Any open house, any time of year, benefits from decluttering. You want guests to have fun and feel comfortable in your home. People will not feel like they are in their own space if they are surrounded by clutter and personal effects. The goal is to instantly make them feel at home. Your family pictures should be taken down and paperwork should be hidden. Put up interesting artwork and items that are more neutral as a replacement for family pictures.
Highlight the Yard!
Even if you only have a small patio, people love being outdoors. The interior of the home shouldn’t be neglected, and neither should the yard. There is nothing like a few flowers to brighten up a dull space. If you don’t have much going on in your yard, you might want to invest in a few things to really make it a place people want to spend time in! Think about adding a hammock, some great seating, or a water feature. Add something fun for the kids if you live in a family-friendly area. (Be sure to indicate in the sale contract if these items come with the property.)
What Should You Eat?
You can make so many unique and easy things. If you are planning a backyard party, now is the perfect time to fire up the grill. Having fun and hanging out in your own (new) backyard can make people feel like they’re at home. By creating a fun and relaxed atmosphere, they can visualize themselves there, entertaining and having fun with their friends.
If you are having a more traditional open house, think of serving cool drinks and snacks. Nothing should be cumbersome or hard to eat. In addition, you don’t want anything messy spilling on the carpet in your entryway. Serve fresh lemonade and a watermelon salad in the backyard. Or one of our favorites, caprese on a stick, (just make sure it’s not left out too long.) Don’t serve anything that can spoil. People getting sick is not the secret to a successful open house party.
